Most people know that the Eiffel Tower was launched as the centerpiece of the Year 1889 World Expo, The problem that most people are unaware of is that Gustave Eiffel was not the first designer to be named,   Rather, Maurice Koechlin and Emile Nouguier were senior engineers of his company who did the design of the Eiffel Tower. Work on the foundation began on January 28, 1877 and it took only two years, two months and five days to complete the construction of the tower on March 1889st. In the 1925, Victor Lustig invited four French great iron merchants to a private meeting at the Hôtel de Crillon.   The hotel was well known for its diplomatic and important appointments.   In fact, his aim was a major scam.   The original idea came about when he read on the newspaper that the Eiffel Tower was damaged during the war and needed major overhauls. He told businessmen at the meeting that he was a government official and that the government was planning to sell the Eiffel Tower because of the high cost of maintaining the tower, and also urged them to keep the matter a secret

Andre Poisson was the youngest of the traders.   So Lustig tried to make him his main target.   Andre Poisson remained oblivious to his wife s displeasure, who repeatedly raised questions about the project s secrecy and over-acceleration, and continued with Lustig. But Lustig is not content with selling the tower and demands a bribe from Andre Poisson.    After receiving a bribe, Lustig announces him to be the winner, and after receiving the money and bribes are quickly escapes by train with his special secretary. After some time, Pissison notices the scam.   And she goes to the police at her husband s insistence.   And Lustig s name will forever be registered as a scammer at the Eiffel Tower.   But Lustig escapes.

Lustig returns to Paris After this great success, Lustig is proud of himself. So he decides to resell the Eiffel Tower again. And back to Paris again.   And he found five other businessmen and had a meeting with them. But this time the businessmen who had heard the news did not trust him and informed the police. But Lustig escapes once again from the police. Finally, in year 1935, federal agents were able to arrest Lustig, with great effort and continuous planning and cooperation. But he was able to flee from the police again.   This time, however, the release of the Eiffel Tower vendor took only 27 days. In court he pleaded guilty to all charges. His court sentence was to spend twenty years in Alcatraz Prison.   He died in prison due to pneumonia.
